Grace started holding her own bottle today, and it was a very cool moment. She's always fiddled with her bottle, but she's never shown any inclination to hold it herself. Tonight, when I sat down to feed her, she just reached up and grabbed it with both hands, gave me a look that said, "I got this", and then proceeded to down the bottle.
I kept signing milk with my suddenly free hand, grinning at her goofily, and showering her with praise. She just kept looking at me with a face that very clearly expressed that I was over-reacting and that it was no big deal. I can't help but feel like she could have done this for the last two months but she didn't want to hurt my feelings. I mean, she's taken away one of the few things I'm good for.
So with only a couple hold corrections, she managed most of 3 ounces of milk. At the end her eyes became a little heavy, and it took some convincing to get her to let go and put her arms down.
"I'll take it from here Grace."
She fell asleep in the next minute. I guess I still have my uses in the bottle realm after all.
