Oregon Garden

Last weekend, we went to the Oregon Garden to meet with some of Betsey's friends as a kind of double birthday get together. We stayed at the Oregon Garden resort, which is very excellent, and spent the first night having a great dinner and laughing and talking in the lounge. The next day, we spent the morning roaming the grounds of the garden before parting ways. I think the trip was a bit too short and the time with friends too little, but we had great fun and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Sunriver 2009

This year's Sunriver adventure was very similar to last year's. Amazingly, I've been writing on this blog long enough now that I can reference previous entries.  It was the same in many ways.  We still went to celebrate Andy's birthday.  We still played games galore.  I still didn't snowboard or ice skate.  I still had a great time.

Unlike last year, we had a much nicer cabin, with an open floor plan, big bright windows, and generally nicer accomodations.  We also had an annex (a second cabin) that some people slept in because we would have been over occupancy in just one cabin.

The weekend was a blast, and I did manage to get out of the cabin a couple times.  I went to the Deschutes brewery for a free tour and beer sampling, and I tried to take a hike in Lava Cast Forest, a part of Newberry National Volcanic Monument.  The car my hiking companions and I attempted to get to the trial in had too little ground clearence to travel the ruts leading to the forest, so we had to stop.  We did get out of the car and hike around in the forest for a bit though.

Sunriver is great for relaxing and the scenery is always amazing.  I'm already looking forward to next year.

Sunriver was great fun.
Today, the work week started.
At least it is short.
