Shiver Me Food Rules

Betsey and I were at Grass Roots Bookstore in Corvallis over the weekend. We were ordering "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding". We're huge fans of Michael Pollan's work, having read most of it. We hadn't bought "Food Rules" yet, and there it was sitting on the table, looking smaller than we had imagined. We opened it up and were pleasantly surprised that it's just a simple one rule per page book. So we examined a few and stopped on this one:
"Eating what stands on one leg is better than eating what stands on two legs, which is better than eating what stands on four legs."
So Betsey dead pans, "I don't know about this one. It implies eating a human is better than eating a pig, and eating a pirate is best of all."

She constantly has gems like these and is always making me laugh. I'm going to start trying to share more of them.
